The Program
RSSS (Ruah Sacred Scripture Study) is a parish-based bible study program whose primary purpose is to enrich the faith life of St. Lucy parishioners thru the study of the scriptures. It leads the faithful to a greater understanding and awareness of God’s living presence in the Bible. The purpose is achieved thru prayer, personal study, small-group sharing, discussions and lecture.
Learning Process
Each participant is highly encouraged to spend at least 20 minutes each day prayerfully reading and reflecting on the assigned scriptural passage. Participants should equip themselves with a Catholic Bible, bible commentary, dictionary, concordance and other learning tools necessary to attain greater understanding of God’s Word. Daily personal study leads to richer discussions during weekly small-group sharing.
Group Sharing
RSSS members gather each week (Mondays - 6:30 to 8:00 PM) to pray together and share the fruits of their daily personal study. With the guidance of trained facilitators, small-group discussions are conducted in an atmosphere of trust and openness.
Prayerful Study
Prayer is considered the most essential element necessary in achieving greater understanding of the scriptures. Without the help of God, especially the Holy Spirit we will find our human understanding short, narrow and wanting. RSSS participants are encourage to use simple but meaningful shared prayers during small group discussions. Prayer is the key to a successful bible study program.
Wrap Up Lectures
Once in a while, priests & bible scholars are invited to provide lectures, particularly overviews and summaries of chosen bible books. However, for the most part, wrap up lectures are done by RSSS teaching staff.
