Lectors proclaim the Word of God at Mass and other liturgical services. Their ultimate goal is to make God's word come alive with meaning for God's people, to make it alive and transforming for all the members of the Assembly.
Serious preparation is necessary to fulfill the demands of the ministry. Lectors are expected to devote ample time to train, study and practice. Training is the long term preparation lectors do to get ready for ministry. Joining the parish scripture study greatly helps in the understanding of the text of the reading that is to be proclaimed. Practice is what will enable a lector to change a reading to a proclamation.
