Guided and inspired by the principles of Charity, Unity and Fraternity, the Knights of Columbus, Council no. 12542 of St. Lucy Parish was established on September 12, 1999. Since its founding, council members continues to be men of faith and of charitable action.
Driven by love for neighbors, Council 12542, in cooperation with United States Postal Service, conducts an annual food drive collecting an average of seven thousand pounds of canned goods and other non-perishable items. Collected items are turned over to the Marian Outreach Center for distribution to less fortunate members of the parish. The council also reaches out to residents of Catholic Charities of Long Beach by providing them hot dinner every 1stSaturday of the month.
The council is deeply committed in changing the lives of people with disabilities both locally and internationally. The council conducts an annual fund raiser where the proceeds go to individuals with intellectual disabilities. The council also makes an annual donation of $150 to help defray the cost of a wheelchair that goes to people who desires freedom of mobility.
As men of faith, council 12542 members, together with their families, take active parish leadership roles and serve in various liturgical ministries. The council is extremely proud of its all male choir. Council members and their families are encouraged to live their faith by praying as family and thus be the Domestic Church.
